Alex gets a Crossover Costume that turns him into Red Earth’s Leo in Street Fighter V’s Extra Battle mode, starting March 15th

The King of Greedia returns!

Following the announcement of the returns of Mech Zangief, F.A.N.G, Juri, and Abigail to Extra Battle, as well as the currently-ongoing challenges for Balrog’s Guts Man attire, Capcom has unveiled the next Crossover Costume coming to Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, which sees Alex transformed into the King of Greedia from the Red Earth series, Leo.

Originally appearing in 1996’s arcade-only fighter Red Earth — or War-Zard in Japan — Leo is the thirty-five-year-old King of Greedia, cursed by an unknown group of invaders and transformed into a half-man half-lion form. Armed with his trusty sword and shield, he seeks to “repay his debt to his countryman.” Leo was also a playable character in 2004’s Capcom Fighting Evolution (a.k.a Capcom Fighting Jam in Japan), serving as one of the four reps for Red Earth. This will be Alex’s first Crossover Costume — and as usual, you much defeat a CPU version of Leo-Alex to collect one of four gems weekly in order to assemble the attire. Each attempt will cost you 2,500 Fight Money each, meaning you need a minimum of 10,000 FM to claim the outfit as your own. Leo’s Theme from Red Earth will also be available as Crossover BGM in an additional Extra Battle that will set you back 1,000 FM per attempt. Any subsequent victories will net you 100 EXP for the character used.

Alex Leo’s Extra Battles will begin on Friday, March 15th, following the conclusion of Guts Man Balrog — whose fist gem is still available if you jump in this afternoon. The fourth challenge will conclude on April 12th. You can see the Street Fighter account’s tweet below.
