While it may be old news to some, Ultra Street Fighter IV mechanics aficionado Bafael just released a video demonstrating the lesser-known ability to quick rise after succumbing to a focus crumple. In many cases, this tactic won’t be applicable simply because the crumple state has to complete in order to perform the quick rise, which means that avoiding inevitable damage after, say, a red focus from Yun–who used the mechanic for a combo extension–still won’t be possible.
In the situation that Bafael shows, however, Elena’s gimmicks surrounding landing a crumple in order to quickly back off and slam out her Healing Ultra combo can be stopped. This situation can now even be turned into a big punish to discourage the fleet-footed fighter from trying to reset her health bar.
