This week’s Camelot Unchained newsletter has arrived, this time with a pretty cool article called “Putting the Pieces Together” In it, Ben Pielstick writes about seemingly large jumps in the development of the game that are actually the result of weeks, or even months, of behind-the-scenes development. That is the place Camelot Unchained is in at the moment, with some big pieces that have all come together and have been integrated into the game, seemingly a HUGE LEAP of progress.
Camelot Unchained backers have received the great news that Beta 1 is a go! The news came via email saying, “It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to announce that Camelot Unchained has moved from one stage of development to another. And fortunately, tonight I get to say just that, and I will keep things fairly short and sweet. Camelot Unchained’s Beta 1 begins on Tuesday, July 31st!”
The Camelot Unchained team has announced that the new date for Beta One is now set for July 31st. Of course, that comes with the caveat that all of the internal and weekend testing goes without a hitch, but it’s good news to see that the delay from the original July 4th date has been relatively short.
During today’s Camelot Unchained livestream, City-State Entertainment devs announced that the anticipated July 4th start of the game’s beta is going to be delayed “between days and weeks”. According to our own Tim Eisen, “They said they could call it beta and put it out but it’s not 100% what they promised. They need time to get the crash rate down a pinch and a small amount of polish. They said if they didn’t have to do the new euro regulations, they feel they would have hit it”.
June 12th has come and gone with Camelot Unchained devs working hard to get things “locked” in preparation for the beta launch on July 4th. While “many of our core Beta features have landed”, there are some things that are “where we want it to be”. The team is still hopeful for July 4th as they keep working to get “across the finish line”.
The Camelot Unchained weekly news letter is out in the wild and it comes with the intriguing note that the team has been using pantomime while figuring out combat animations for the Forest Stalker. This has been done to help the team create the right “powerful and flashy” look for Overgrowth Shot and, from the letter’s celebratory mood, it seems to have worked.
