Core-A Gaming Analyzes Street Fighter V’s Input Lag

Ever since Red Bull’s Darryl “Snake Eyez” Lewis discussed Street Fighter V’s native input lag on the PlayStation 4, the topic has remained on the tip of everyone’s tongue. The world of competitive gaming may see this as just another excuse for less than optimal play, but then again, just what do these extra frames of delay mean? In a new video, Core-A Gaming covers the topic at length, taking a look at all of the factors that combine to make reactionary play in Street Fighter V less favorable than in many other games. These factors include human reaction time, controller response, game response, and monitor response.

After some testing, an important question arises: did Capcom include this extra delay intentionally? After a quick discussion of the impact the additional lag can have on the general playstyle of the game–making it favor a more offensive style–it becomes clear that this may very well be the case.
