As you may have noticed, we’ve made a more active attempt to cover the tournament scene of Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown over in Japan. While we could continue to point out that events like the Tokyo Bay Area Cup — a 3-on-3 team tournament in Japan featuring 30 teams — validate the passion of this game, perhaps there’s no better explanation of the pull of VF than the fact that two-time Evo champion Fuudo found himself in the brackets. If a sponsored player for Street Fighter V could find the time to return to his roots, you know there’s a flame there that will never die.
