Core-A Gaming delves into what it’s like to be a female fighting gamer

The FGC always has room for improvement, especially in regards to inclusiveness. While we’ve made strides in the past several years, it’s important that as a community we sincerely listen to all feedback, good and bad, so that we can be better than we were the day before. Core-A Gaming — partnering with UYU — recently released a powerful video giving some of the women in the FGC a platform to talk about their experiences entering the scene, and what they might hope for the future.

It’s no secret that being a female competitor in the FGC — or any gaming community for that matter — has its fair share of challenges. Women often find themselves not being taken as seriously as their male counterparts for a myriad of bogus reasons, whether it’s because of perceived attention-seeking or an assumed lack of skill.

Watching Core-A’s video, you can see that all of these women (some of which are professionally sponsored players) have had to endure that unfair criticism, and still do. However, they push themselves in spite of biased comments, owing no one any proof of skill, and work towards being the best competitors they can be. These proud ladies are charging ahead and showing everyone that they have just as much claim to a pad or stick as anyone else, providing a shining example that other girls can look up to.
