Do Fighting Games Have a Place on Mobile Platforms? Core-A Gaming Weighs In

Most of us have used our phones as a sort of stand in for traditional gaming platforms at some point or another; others of us do so on a daily basis. And while some genres transfer quite well to a device built to be carried in a pocket, many current mobile fighting games are a totally different animal. Thanks to issues with touch screens, lag from cellular networks and other factors, one has to wonder if it’s even possible to experience true fighting game glory if the game in question is trapped within such constraints.

In a new video, Core-A Gaming’s Gerald Lee takes a look at some of the past and current mobile fighting games that have graced our Androids and iPhones, then offers up some thoughts about the potential future the genre has for commuters looking to get in a few punches. He posits that if Divekick can see high-level competitive play with such a simple control scheme, it isn’t far-fetched to think a fighting game could be made enjoyable–even truly competitive–on a phone.
