Arguably, the most iconic aspect of Kung Lao’s design is the razor-edged hat he’s worn since his debut in Mortal Kombat 2. But in Mortal Kombat X, it seem that he can permanently lose his iconic headwear when facing the Alien’s Konjurer variation.
As shown in the following video from Ketchup and Mustard, this glitch occurs when the Alien plants an egg and then throws Kung Lao right as the facehugger makes contact. Although the classic fighter typically regains his hat afterwards, the bug, fo some reason, keeps it from returning to Kung Lao as intended.
Without his hat, some of Kung Lao’s normals lose their hitboxes and a few of his special moves stop working entirely. And while there’s a tight window for making this happen, this setup is something that Konjurer Alien players will likely use as a practical reset, increasing the chances of this glitch occurring in a real match.
