Learn to Work with Jack-O’s Minions in this Guilty Gear XRD -REVELATOR- Tutorial

Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-, which is nearing console release, has a band of returning and brand-new characters. Among them, Jack-O’ stands out as a unique fighter who introduces elements of RTS or even MOBA genres into the “Heaven or Hell” bouts.

Jack-O’ is relatively easy to pickup at the outset, as a lot of her moves have simple executions. She’s able to set three different minion houses, which promptly start spouting little swordsmen, pikemen, and mages to poke at the opponent. Over time, they level up and get stronger. Jack-O’ can also throw the Pumpkin houses and utilize a cooldown-based command organ to enrage her flock or even detonate them for massive (and potentially collateral!) damage.

What separates wanna-be Jack-O’s from the skilled ones is deliberate use of the minions in combos. Minions attack at specific intervals, and while they don’t have a lot of hit stun on their own, they allow Jack-O’ to extend her offense with her multi-directional grab.

GodPress created a handy “Minion Primer” to explain the timings and quirks of each goon. They follow it up with a couple of example combos to get started on pressuring opponents with a band of annoying twerps.
