Standing as one of the three pillars of top level Falco play, alongside G2|Westballz and EG|PPMD, it’s only natural that C9|Mango has some strong opinions about the current state of Falco in Melee’s metagame. While Westballz’ Falco is all about the crazy tech skill and PPMD’s Falco prides dominating the neutral with lasers, Mango’s Falco is somewhere in the middle between these two sides.
During one of Mango’s regular Melee streams, he discussed these differences, alongside his thoughts on Falco match ups and how this Space Animal should be played as according to Mango, “90% of the Falco population is really bad”. As he is playing fellow Norwalk native Alex19 via netplay, Mango actively breaks down what a Falco should and shouldn’t be doing in the Fox matchup, as well as pointing flaws in Alex’s game and how he can exploit them to win the match. It’s an impressive feat to watch Mango process what’s going on in the game, isolate the problem and then execute his analysis, all in the matter of a few seconds.
