Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite’s new Directional Influence mechanic allows for a King of Fighters-style short hop

Even if the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite story demo is a single-player affair meant to show off its Story Mode, that doesn’t mean that players aren’t out there breaking the game down! A number of players are already poring through the game, trying to figure out how it works.

One such player is Marvel vs. Capcom 2 veteran Shoultzula, who has discovered some a new bit of advanced movement that seems unique to MvC: Infinite. This new movement uses the game’s Directional Influence mechanic. Unlike previous games in the series, MvC:I allows players some amount of influence on the movement after a super jump. Using this, Shoultzula has discovered that players can set up a King of Fighters-style “short hop.”

This advanced movement opens up some interesting and unique options during a tag. In addition to this, it also sets up an option select for some characters between a cross-up, or an air throw.

Take note however that with the game still in development, it’s possible that this may be changed before release!
