Although the Project M Dev Team are no more, the PM community is still alive and kicking. They may not have the support of Nintendo, but event attendance suggests that they’re not willing to go down without a fight. Many of the players who still compete in a “dead game” (whatever that game may be) do so thanks to a genuine love for their scene and, in some cases, their characters.
One character that didn’t make the cut for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is Ivysaur, who appeared in Super Smash Bros. Brawl as part of the Pokémon Trainer’s trio of characters, but lays claim to its very own unique character slot in PM. Ivysaur is a character with a plethora of options and moves that you won’t be seeing in Melee or Smash 4, and one of the players showing just how powerful and versatile Ivysaur can be goes by the name Machiavelli.
Don’t worry if you’ve never heard of him; YouTube channel The Balcony has you covered with this interview that not only introduces you to the man himself, but also gives you some details about his relationship with Project M. One highlight to watch out for is an explanation of how he found his main–no doubt it’s an experience that will resonate with some who have suffered a character crisis.
