Ed Boon went on record recently to say that he would consider the possibility of putting together a Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat crossover if he and NetherRealm Studios were approached with the idea. While the idea has been floated around by fans for decades, it’s something that could inevitably see light at some point.
Michael Martin poses the thought in I Got Next this week that Street Fighter actually needs this crossover more than Mortal Kombat would. He believes that if NetherRealm–whose Mortal Kombat XL has eclipsed Capcom’s Street Fighter V in sales–handled the development, it could go a long way in smoothing over the publicity problem that Street Fighter V faces. It could also bring in an influx of Mortal Kombat players into the Street Fighter franchise.
