In the right hands, Villager can already be a scary character to go up against in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, with his myriad of projectiles, traps, and amazing recovery. Thanks to the discovery of a new death combo by Japanese Villager god Ranai, this small child with incredibly deep pockets has become even more dangerous.
MySmashCorner has taken it upon himself to explain just how this death combo works, how to perform it, and which members of the cast that it works on. The combo exploits the unique properties of Villager’s down Smash, which can bury opponents in the ground if used when they are standing, but simply locks someone in place if they are already in a knockdown state. After getting them in a knockdown state, the Villager can keep the opponent locked in place by perfect pivot down Smashing them until they reach the edge of the stage. The Villager can then fully charge a forward smash to get an easy kill.
While this combo seems easy to pull off, it only really works at a specific percentage window and on a certain section of the cast. MySmashCorner has put together a helpful list of the characters it works on, as well as the percentage ranges that the combo starter works from in the description of his video. Donkey Kong and Mewtwo excluded, the combo only seems to work on characters with regular human body shapes, so those who main shorter characters don’t need to worry about a Villager burying you in a shallow grave.
