The world famous Mikado Arcade continues to bring old school 2D action to competitive life in Japan. A total of 53 players showed up in early April to throw down in another dual-game nostalgia blast in the neighborhood of Takadanobaba. This time, the games in question were Street Fighter 2 X: Grand Master Challenge–which we know better in the US as Super Street Fighter II Turbo–and Fatal Fury Special.
The footage, which only recently made its way on to YouTube, features fantastic play, difficult single-elimination brackets, wide character usage, stage interactions, and sweet 60 FPS quality. Click on the videos below to immerse yourself in classic footsies.
Looking for more old school action from Japan? Don’t miss out on the footage from this recent Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike event hosted by Game Daytona.
