Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news and our favorite SRK articles from September 17 to September 22, 2016!
[Editor’s note: Street Fighter V has dropped a frame of input latency (from 8F to 7F) on PlayStation 4 with the September 22 update, so it’s as good a time as any to bump the SRK Rollback a day back to its new Friday morning spot!]
Zavian “mushin_Z” Sildra, Editor-in-Chief:
For myself and others that have no direct experience with tournament organization, I appreciate d3v taking some time to describe what his experience was like making Manila Cup 2016 a success.
Frame 2:
Maximize Chun-Li’s Damage with These Street Fighter V Combos
When Chun-Li is discussed in relation to Street Fighter V, it seems to usually be to point out how overpowered she is, or how “boring” she is to fight/watch. Some of my favorite players main Chun-Li, and I still stand behind my old favorite–I’ll be trying these combos out in the lab myself.
Frame 3:
Canada Cup 2016 Super Street Fighter II Turbo Tournament Will Feature Japanese Legends
Super Street Fighter II Turbo is the quintessential Street Fighter game; with all these names on the fight card, I’m very excited for Canada Cup 2016 and their ST event.
Sam “Trilby” Foxall, Assistant Editor:
By the time you read this, big man Urien will be available for everyone to play. Use this breakdown from the guys at WSO Sessions to help guide your lab time.
Frame 2:
Round 1 to Offer Tekken 7 in All Locations in December
Bowling alleys around the US will be getting a lot more crowded when Tekken 7 cabs come to Round 1 locations in December. Expect a revival of the arcade atmosphere and bring those rolls of quarters!
Frame 3:
Bandai Namco to Host Alpha Test for New Gundam VS Title
This alpha test marks the first Gundam VS game designed for home consoles, and should hopefully mean that we in the West get our first taste of competitive Gundam fighting action.
Keegan “Interrobang!?” Spindler, Features Editor:
Frame 1:
Panda Global’s Filipino Champ to Take On NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal in Street Fighter V
Despite hailing from a land where Basketball is not exactly popular, I’ve secretly harbored a deep and abiding love of Shaq for years. Now that he’s finally getting into fighting games [Editor’s note: Shaq-Fu notwithstanding], I’ve got an excuse to gush about him.
I love seeing awesome hardware being announced–especially considering that this is an extremely limited run! GGXrd has some of the finest artwork around, and seeing it applied to a stick like this warms the cockles of my heart.
Frame 3:
Slippingbug Breaks Down His Pokkén Tournament Tier List
It’s hardly shocking that the Features Editor has a special enjoyment of the long form work on the site, but this one is special–I’ve still got a lot of love for Pokkén Tournament, and Slippingbug is the leading player of my main! The interview well worth checking out on its own merits too.
