While there’s been a lot that’s been written about Urien’s mix-ups, especially with his Aegis Reflector, not as much focus has been given to his EX Knee Drop. While most are aware of its use as a decent pressure tool, most players are just content to leave it at that.
In the video below however, Rotbah demonstrates how the EX Knee Drop can be used to set up a tricky left/right mix up. After a crouching heavy punch into heavy punch Metallic Sphere fireball combo, players can do EX Knee Drop and control where Urien lands by holding forward to land behind their opponent, or nothing to land in front.
The interesting thing about this set up is that, wherever Urien lands, he’s perfectly primed to beat 3 frame jabs with a meaty crouching heavy punch. Now, while the latter move is unsafe on block, Urien can still cancel into EX Metallic Sphere to keep himself safe, while also putting him at the perfect distance to punish most crouching jabs.
