When Justin Wong stopped by Frame Advantage studios earlier this year to talk about Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition‘s Menat, he summed her up simply: “She’s very, very cheap.”
You’d think that make VesperArcade’s current project — theorizing what changes would best benefit the inevitable upcoming Season 4 balance patch — would be made a lot simpler thanks to that quip from one of Menat’s top players. The reality is a little more complicated: a lot of Menat’s “oompf” came from changes in Season 3, including the addition of a new move that filled a gap in her complicated gameplan. (It also didn’t hurt any that it was during Season 3 that Sako practically reinvented the way the community viewed the character.)
