If you are a fighting game enthusiast who has wanted to get paid for sitting around playing games, you may not have considered game testing. You may want to: it’s being found that fighting game players are in high demand in the field.
Red Bull has hit the pavement to find that various independent developers have been reaching out to the fighting game community for game testing. With the indie game corner becoming a mainstay at Evolution Championship Series (including the puzzle game Spaera, pictured above), it is no doubt that the indie developers are starting to look toward us as the standard-bearers for the main things developers test–balance, bugs, glitches, and fun factor.
The biggest factor for reaching out to fighting game players is that they are more apt to be able to break games, and easily replicate the issues. This helps expedite the turnaround for fixing the game before launch.
While this article talks primarily about public testing, there are always opportunities out there for players to becoming commercial game testers. If you had never thought about branching into the field, you may want to keep your eyes peeled on job sites.
