For Honor is finally getting its own dedicated servers, and more improvements are planned

With an innovative take on weapon-based combat freed from the traditional 2-player confines of the genre, many saw For Honor as the next big thing in fighting games. However, since its launch, the game has effectively dropped off the radar — due in part to a community that wasn’t really happy with the game’s multiple issues.

That said, Ubisoft hasn’t given up on their game, and has made an announcement that should address one of these aforementioned issues — network performance. As part of their “road map” for the future of For Honor, Ubisoft has confirmed that the game will be getting dedicated servers.

Currently, For Honor simply connects players together and has one player serve as the host. This set up isn’t exactly ideal for a game that can have over a dozen players in a single match.

The dedicated servers come alongside a host of other changes, such as a new duel tournament mode, new 4v4 mode, a new “Legendary” armor tier, two new heroes, as well as updates to the combat system. These will be rolled out starting this August, along with test phases for the combat changes and duel tournaments, and will continue all the way to February of 2018.
