Foundations for Fighting EX Layer‘s release and support!
ARIKA announced a slew of information for Fighting EX Layer during its livestream event yesterday, including release information and the newest addition to its roster: Shadowgeist. Shadowgeist is a vigilante, similar to Skullomania, but has an entirely different view of justice. The cybernetic-enhanced warrior seeks out vengeance for crimes committed against himself, his family, and his country by a totalitarian government. The final two characters were also teased, with silhouettes in Shadowgeist’s announcement image.
Fighting EX Layer will release digitally on the PlayStation 4 by the end of June, with two versions. The “light” version of the game will run $39.99 USD and will include all of the fighters in the character select below, excluding the two who are yet-to-be-announced, and five Gougi decks. The standard edition will be $59.99 USD and will include all 12 characters and 15 Gougi decks. (A brief overview of the Gougi deck system can be found here.)
According to ARIKA, there will be a single player mode, but it won’t be a typical Story Mode, and it will be discussed in more detail at a later date. For post-launch support, there are two different kinds of color packs planned, titled “Type-A” and “Type Gold.” Examples were shown within the stream. ARIKA also plans on releasing the game physically, and bringing the title to PC through Steam — if it sells well.
If you would like to watch the stream in its entirety, it has been embedded for you below! The stream is in Japanese, with an English translator. Those wanting to get straight to the action can find gameplay for both Blair and Jack around the 54:00 mark.
