The trademark was renewed alongside a new one for “Battle Genesis”
It’s tough to be a Virtua Fighter fan these days. This current generation hasn’t seen a new installment of the seminal 3D fighter, and the only way to play the latest installments, is inside another game.
However, some recent developments may bode well for the franchise. Sega Games Japan recently had the trademark for the Virtua Fighter logo renewed in the US last month. Specifically, the trademark was renewed for coin-operated video games and arcade video game use.
In addition to this, the company also filed a similar trademark for something called “Battle Genesis”. This trademark was also filed for coin-operated video games and arcade video game use.
Now, this could simply be a standard trademark renewal from Sega — it has been over a decade since Virtua Fighter 5 came out in arcades. However, the “Battle Genesis” trademark seems to point to something more interesting.
