FGC nominations for The Game Awards 2018 include Evo, Tokido & SonicFox, Street Fighter V, and more

The FGC gets multiple nods from The Game Awards in this year’s nominations.

The Game Awards, hailed as one of the video game industry’s biggest celebrations, has revealed this year’s nominees — and several entries from the FGC world have made their way onto the list for 2018. From the press release:

Reaching over 18 million viewers in 2017 and hailed as “the Oscars of the gaming world” by the New York Times, The Game Awards will bring together game industry creators, esports champions, digital influencers and Hollywood names for a night of awards, exclusive game world premieres, new game announcements and musical performances, including The Game Awards Orchestra. The Game Awards is available to watch for free across almost every major mobile, desktop and console devices used to play video games.

Making an impact from the FGC this year are two prominent players from team Echo Fox: Dominique “SonicFox” McLean, and Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi — two of the brightest stars in the competitive scene right now, certainly. Evolution Championship Series 2018 got a nod for Best Esports Event, and SonicFox’s side-switch against GO1 in Evo’s Dragon Ball FighterZ grand finals is an option for the Best Esports Moment. The Best Fighting Game category sees four big titles vying for votes: Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ, BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, and the recently-released SoulCalibur VI.

Head over to The Game Awards site for the full list of gaming nominations — and to cast your own vote for your favorites. The nominees will be honored at The Game Awards on Thursday, December 6, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, at 9:00 PM ET (6:00 PM PT).
