2016’s Capcom Cup was rife with issues of players unable to attend the tournament due to visa issues; while last year was quite the departure from this — only NuckleDu withdrew from the tournament — the visa issue has reared its ugly head once again.
The Dominican Republic’s SonicBoxx|Crossover — the Latin America Regional Finals winner — has announced today that he was unable to secure a visa from the US Embassy in the Dominican Republic, and thus will be unable to attend. This currently leaves the Latin American slot up in the air: Pikoro would be pressed to secure a visa in a short amount of time, as Peruvians require a visa to enter the US, leaving Doomsnake507 of Panama as the highest-placing competitor in the bracket who does not a require a visa to travel to the United States.
It sadden me to say that I won't be able to make it to CC due to the embassy in DR not approving my visa, I'm in tears now and in so much pain I worked hard all of these years to get this opportunity and this happened, I'm grateful for the friends I have, see you in 2020 pic.twitter.com/qj6v9CbYCn
