ARIKA recently dropped some updates regarding Fighting EX Layer‘s upcoming update and arcade and PC ports. Among these was one important detail regarding the PC version on Steam: its lack of DRM.
In their update on Facebook, ARIKA confirmed that the PC version of Fighting EX Layer on Steam will not include any DRM. Now, considering that Steam itself can serve as a form of DRM, it’s likely that this means that it wont ship with any third-party digital rights management, such as Denuvo. Denuvo’s presence in the PC versions of fighting games has become a contentious issue. Specifically, it was discovered that the software caused performance issues with the PC port of Tekken 7.
As part of Fighting EX Layer’s lack of DRM, ARIKA did remind players that this didn’t mean that they’re fine with illegal or pirated copies of the game. The rest of the announcement detailed the new language options coming to the came in the patch. Specifically, support for French, Italian, German, Spanish, Arabian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese were being added in addition to both English and Japanese.
