For characters with minimal expression, there was a lot of charm to this trailer
This morning, Nintendo announced that Minecraft‘s Steve and Alex would be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the next entrant in Fighters Pass Vol. 2. While technically one character, like the previously released Dragon Quest Hero, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate does its best to make each costume, like the Zombie and Enderman outfits, feel like its own individual fighter. The Minecraft characters appear to use a variety of tools and crafting mechanics from their home game in a variety of fun and creative ways. You can check out the reveal trailer for yourself below!
This Saturday, Director Masahiro Sakurai will give players a more intensive look at the characters along with discussing their development. We will also get information on the fighter’s release date so be sure to tune in if you want to find out when you can download the character first. You can get your browser prepped for the stream on YouTube.
Tune-in for an in-depth look at the new #SmashBrosUltimate DLC fighter, Steve & Alex from @Minecraft, with Director Masahiro Sakurai on 10/3 at 7:30am PT.

Every DLC character comes with their own unique stage and music from their franchise. You can purchase a single character for $5.99 or you can purchase characters in bulk through the two Fighters Passes. The first Fighters Pass is priced at $24.99 and comes with Joker, Hero, Banjo and Kazooie, Terry, and Byleth. Fighters Pass Vol. 2 comes with six characters in total, bringing the price up to $29.99 with Min Min and Steve and Alex being the only two announced fighters so far.
There are still four characters to be announced for Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Who do you have your hopes set on to be added as a DLC fighter? How do you feel about the Minecraft reps? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
Personally, I am hopeful for Ryu Hayabusa somewhere down the line to hopefully kick off a reinvigorated interest in the Ninja Gaiden franchise. I am also incredibly impressed with how Steve and Alex look so far. Minecraft has made an incredible impact on the video game industry and should feel right at home with the rest of the roster.
