With two more characters officially part of the Mortal Kombat X cast, NetherRealm Studios’ Ed Boon has gotten back to doing what he does best (other than developing games, of course): teasing fans on Twitter! A lot of interesting information has sprung up on social media over the pats few days, so let’s dive right in.
First off, the creative director dropped a rather tiny image of what appears to be a man’s hand holding a bow. As no previous Mortal Kombat character has used such a weapon, many have taken to the idea that this is an entirely new character. Of course, there are still hold-outs throwing names like Nightwolf, Tanya, Kai, Bo’ Rai Cho, and Fujin into the mix, but we won’t know for sure until more hints are dropped.

Speaking of Fujin, Boon has been responding to questions dealing with the wind god quite a bit lately. This, along with the character’s appearance in DC Comics’ Mortal Kombat X prequel series, may hint towards a return for the deity.
Finally, as far as new information goes, we might see a new ninja join the likes of Scorpion and Sub-Zero in Mortal Kombat X. As of now very few concrete details are available, but Boon did note that it’s certainly possible the series’ most iconic group of characters may add a fresh face in the new installment.
Whatever any of this means, we won’t have to wait long for new information. Boon mentioned that next week should be an exciting time for folks looking towards the title. Whether this has to do with a stream detailing Kitana’s variations or some other revelations remains to be seen, so stay tuned.
Mortal Kombat X is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on April 14.
