In a collaboration with Moon Studios, the titular hero from Ori and the Blind Forest is joining the Rivals of Aether roster later this summer. Together with her spirit companion Sein, the duo utilizes all the abilities they learned in their first adventure to fight against their opponents.
Ori and Sein are akin to other puppet characters like Rosalina and Luma, with Ori acting as the frontline fighter while Sein provides support. Sein is able to juggle opponents with Spirit Flame and Charged Flame, allowing Ori to come in and continue a combo. Ori can even use her Bash ability to fling enemy projectiles back at the user. When combined with her Light Burst, she can even redirect her own projectiles or even catapult opponents across the screen, if she times the Bash right.
Ori and Sein also come with the new Spirit Tree stage, which can be played in both Competitive and Aether forms. In the Aether form, the evil owl spirit Kuro swoops in to attack opponents who fall off the stage, while the friendly Gumo will occasionally move the log platform in the center of the stage.
Ori and Sein will be available on both Steam and Xbox One later this summer, going for $4.99. Their release will coincide with the full launch of Rivals of Aether on Xbox One, meaning console players can finally start gaining on their PC counterparts. More original characters are coming to Rivals of Aether this fall, so stay tuned for more DLC combatants later this year.
