In their latest strategy video for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, the Beefy Smash Doods go in-depth on footstools (using jump to bounce off your opponent’s head) and their various uses. They describe the difference between the regular footstool–which knocks the stomped character down–and the “phantom” footstool, that uses the opponent as a platform but doesn’t affect them otherwise. The video explains at length the many ways the footstool can be applied to your advantage, both on and off the stage, or even in combos.
