Stream.me gives $6,000 to Skullgirls Tour, sending 7 international players to Combo Breaker 2017

Skullgirls is fairly atypical fighting game community. Most fighters tend to start strong, gradually losing steam as time goes on. Skullgirls on the other hand started off poorly, with hardly any tournament activity the first year–outside of the Evo side tournament. Since then, the community has slowly-but-surely built up steam, today enjoying a community size larger than ever before, despite being 5 years old.

Part of the community’s growth has in the past year manifested itself in the form of the Skullgirls Tour, which has been a community effort to create more visibility for itself by charting out the game’s tournament calendar. This effort has gained a lot of attention from the overall community, notably from Stream.me, who announced it was donating $2,000 to the Skullgirls Tour to get international players out to Combo Breaker, Skullgirls’ biggest event for the last 3 years running.

To celebrate that $2,000–and to raise even more money–the team behind the Skullgirls Tour held a charity stream showcasing international talent from the world over. During this broadcast, Stream.me donated another $4,000 to the cause, which–combined with the money raised during the stream itself–was enough to send seven players (each from a different international country) to Illinois’ Combo Breaker 2017, which is May 26th-28th.

You can see the recorded stream below, for a full five hours of Skullgirls 2nd Encore action:
