Toshimichi Mori may be teasing a new BlazBlue title in his 10th anniversary message

Today marks the 20th anniversary of the BlazBlue franchise, with the first game BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger first hitting Japanese arcades back in November 20, 2008. As part of the celebration, series creator Toshimichi Mori left a message on the official site that may be hinting at a new title in the franchise.

In his message, Mori states “For everyone looking forward to BlazBlue in the future, I hope to once again return to the feelings I had 10 years ago and impart the memories of battle into a new BlazBlue…” He continues saying “Specifically, with things like BlazBlue: Alternative Dark War (the smartphone game) and ‘[Redacted] [Redacted]Blue (Temporary).’ Please look forward to them.”

It’s that last line that’s the most interesting as he seems to straight up drop a redacted title for an in development BlazBlue game. It becomes even more interesting when looking at the original Japanese, where the title reads ○○ッ○○○○・○○○○ブルー, showing the exact number of characters in the title (as well as the katakana for “tsu”).

Of course, this could be anything related to the BlazBlue franchise, and not another fighting game. That said, the timing of the tease with the series’ anniversary seems hard to ignore. We’ll likely learn more about this in the near future — maybe even at ArcRevo Japan this weekend.
