Twitch to Begin Selling Games, Streamers to Earn Revenue from Game Sales

For most of us Twitch is a platform to watch streams of tournament, events, and top players practicing or playing some matches. However, it seems that parent company Amazon has some bigger things in store for the service.

Amazon and Twitch have recently announced Twitch Games Commerce. This new service will allow players to buy select PC games off its website, starting this spring.

That’s not the most interesting thing about this announcement however. According to the announcement video, any time a game is purchased through a Twitch streamer’s broadcast, a portion of the money earned from the sale will go to the streamer. This then represents another way for players and streamers to earn money to support themselves and their competitive aspirations.

A number of publishers have already announced their support for this. However, we’ve yet to receive word on whether or not fighting game publishers such as Capcom and Arc System Works are on board.
