Next month, the Arizona-based tournament Undefeated of the Southwest will return for a second installment, this time with an added emphasis on Marvel competition. With all the talk of Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 falling off as a tournament draw, the organizers behind this event are set to bridge Community Effort Orlando’s hype and the intense competition of Evolution with their regional.

Undefeated of the Southwest Volume 2 will see players like Kumite in Tennessee’s Cloud, BROKENTIER teammates Clockwork and Angelic, Kane Blueriver of The Black Eye, and many more converge on Phoenix to participate in both singles and group competition.

In an effort to up the hype even further, the folks over at r/MvC3 are currently in the process of accumulating funds for a pot bonus. While they’ve already reached their initial $200 goal, donations are still being accepted. Furthermore, HitBox Arcade will provide a multi-console version of their popular arcade stick to the first-place finisher.

Instead of resting on their laurels and hoping the series’ long history would keep them in the limelight, the Marvel community is prepared to put in the work necessary to keep Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 an integral part of the fighting game community. Events like these can go a long way towards reminding everyone why a game is popular, and it’s fantastic to see players stepping up to the plate in Arizona.

Undefeated of the Southwest Volume 2 is scheduled for July 4. More details can be found here.
