[UPDATE] Super Smash Bros. Melee Reportedly Appearing at DreamHack London 2015

UPDATE – Closes source to DreamHack have disclosed to The Daily Dot that Super Smash Bros. Melee will indeed appear at DreamHack London 2015, which is scheduled for September 19-20. Special thanks to Efren Salinas for sending this our way. Our original article follows below.

Over the years, DreamHack has risen to become one of Europe’s premier competitive gaming destinations. While originally focused on titles like Starcraft, Counter-Strike, and Quake, a recent shift has seen the Swedish organization bring fighters into the equation. Street Fighter IV has played a major part since 2012, Mortal Kombat X was added to the mix last year, and upcoming tournaments may even feature a particular decade-old GameCube title everyone seems to be fond of.

A recent tweet sent out by DreamHack Fighters leads us to believe that Super Smash Bros. Melee will possibly join the DreamHack lineup in the near future. Okay, sure, all it shows is a GameCube, but until competitive communities spring up for Super Mario Strikers, we’re going to go ahead and assume Smashers have a lot to look forward to.

An appearance at DreamHack would be just another step in Melee’s monumental resurgence, which has seen the title’s competitive scene return to the Evolution Championship Series and even receive recognition from Nintendo themselves.

DreamHack’s next stop is at DreamHack London 2015 in September, with the substantially larger DreamHack Winter 2015 set for the end of November. We’re sure to receive more details as we near those dates, so stay tuned.
