Playing together no matter how far apart for a good cause
Esports team, Panda Global announced a Windjammers 2 tournament using the game’s recently released demo to raise donations benefitting Black Girls CODE, an organization that provides opportunities for young girls in the digital space.
Anyone can enter the tournament as long as they have the Windjammers 2 demo on Steam, Discord, and the remote access software, Parsec. For those who aren’t aware, Parsec allows players from anywhere around the world to play together on the same computer with low latency and up to 60 FPS, making it perfect for a tournament like this.
The community rallied together to put this tournament together as soon as the Windjammers 2 demo released on Tuesday, hoping to make an impact before the Demo period ends next Monday, June 22nd. It will be interesting to see how Parsec handles the tournament. If successful, it sounds like a great solution for more events in the future.
Paperspace, Parsec, and Panda Global are all sponsoring the event, with Panda Global pledging to match charity donations up to $500. Windjammers 2 developer, DotEmu, is supporting the tournament as well with giveaways for Top 3.
Those interested in participating in the tournament can register at Challonge. It is free to enter but remember, spots are limited to 64 players total, so be sure to act fast! If you just looking to watch the event and support through donations, tune in to Panda Global’s Twitch stream at noon on June 20 and donate on the tournament page!
