World of Warcraft: Did 100k Bot Bans Really Accomplish Anything?

A few months ago, Blizzard announced that 100,000 player accounts had been temporarily banned for up to six months for using bots. While arguably not actually solving the entire issue, it was a significant slap to bot users everywhere.
