While rumors concerning the future of SNK Playmore’s King of Fighter franchise over the past few years, development of upcoming titles may be done without a key producer from recent installments.

Masaaki Kukino, who previously worked on both King of Fighters XII and King of Fighters XIII, has apparently parted ways with the company as of October 31. This news comes from his personal Facebook page, the employment section of which was updated that same day with the details.

Kukino previously took leave from SNK Playmore a few months after King of Fighters XIII’s arcade release in 2010 before returning just last year.

Before his tenure began in the fighting genre, Kukino lent his talents to Konami’s Silent Scope series.

Official word has yet to be released by SNK Playmore about Kukino’s departure, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated as more information becomes available.

General: Last Minute Blizzcon Hopes

Last Minute Blizzcon Hopes

Today’s news will probably seem to be a purposeful theme, an assessment that isn’t far off the mark. Today marks the beginning of Blizzard Entertainment’s (mostly) annual fan convention, Blizzcon. Attendees from all over the world have made their way to Anaheim, California, usually renown for Disneyland but for this weekend, all eyes are on the convention center and the news that is likely to rock the MMO and general games space that will emerge from it.

World of Warcraft: A New Player’s Impressions of World of Warcraft

A New Player’s Impressions of World of Warcraft

I’ve been playing MMORPGs for most of my gaming life. As someone in their mid-twenties, I can’t claim to have been around for years and years losing myself in these virtual worlds, but I feel like I have a pretty good pulse on the industry as a whole. My MMO experiences first started with the original EverQuest, a game I would watch one of my brothers play when I would go to visit him.

Quality of Life Enhancements

SOE has been hard at work at adding more quality of life improvements to the game, most notably in terms of graphics rendering as well as the building system of the game. Here’s what to expect if you haven’t logged back and updated the game in the past two weeks.

General: Does Gameplay Trump All?

Does Gameplay Trump All?

With BlizzCon ramping up for this weekend, there’s a fair amount of buzz here among the staffers regarding the Warlords of Draenor release. I myself have received the customary pre-launch emails from Blizzard encouraging me to re-activate my World of Warcraft account with seven free days of game time. Like with previous WoW expansions, I’ve given the thought of resubscribing more than a passing thought. Unlike previous releases, however, I’m not as convinced that I need to jump back in.

Pick Up Some Important Robin Tactics in Smash and Grab’s Latest Super Smash Bros. for 3DS Character Breakdown

After aiming their sights at Lucina and Zero Suit Samus, the folks behind the new Smash and Grab channel are back with a Super Smash Bros. for 3DS character breakdown for Fire Emblem Awakening protagonist Robin.

A thoroughly unique fighter, this tactician incorporates the durability mechanic used extensively in their original franchise, which causes the weapons and tomes used in their attacks to degrade the more they are used. Each attack has a set number of times they can be performed before the item associated with them breaks, after which Robin must wait for it to regenerate in order to utilize its full potential once more.

Similar to Smash and Grab’s previous tutorials, the video below runs through Robin’s tools, providing insight into each move’s usefulness before moving onto sample combos that beginners would do well to add to their own gameplans.
