Vesper Arcade Takes a Look at What Chun-Li Rocks in Street Fighter V
Some time back, Vesper Arcade released an extensive breakdown of Ryu’s toolset in Street Fighter V, based on what Capcom has shown us so far. Now, they’re moving onto his sparring partner in the early footage, Chun-Li.
In this video, Vesper Arcade covers Chun-Li’s normals, specials, Super, and Ultra.
The most noticeable thing is that a good number of her animations seem to have been taken from Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike, as we’ve pointed out in the past. Her playstyle, however, is more in your face and combo-centric than what we’ve previously seen.
Much like Ryu, Chun-Li also has a few totally new things, such as what Vesper believes is her new standing strong, a three-hit attack that seems to be a great hit-confirm tool. Her crouching strong has likewise been updated somewhat; while it has the animation from 3rd Strike, it now features a slight forward slide motion that goes under fireballs.
Her crouching roundhouse, on the other hand, remains true to Street Fighter IV, but it now has an added counter-hit effect similar to Ryu’s standing fierce. Because the animation on hit for this seems different, however, this makes Vesper wonder where exactly the extended stun on counter hit is applied.
Of course, this is just the surface of Vesper’s in-depth analysis, so hit up the video below for more details.
