From this morning, Saturday, April 11th through Tuesday, April 14th, players can take part in the special event that celebrates the first space flight that took place on April 12, 1961.

Churning the Butter Spring Championships Week 6 Streaming Live from San Francisco, California

ShowDown recently went live with another installment of their weekly Churning the Butter tournament. They have once again taken over Folsom Street Foundry in San Francisco, California to put on an Ultra Street Fighter IV for some of the strongest players in the region.

Tonight’s event continues their Spring Championships series, allowing the best of the best to show their chops against other high-level opponents in preparation for the finals.

Although it’s been some time since Steam offered a great sale on fighting games, they are currently offering a trio of King of Fighters titles for under $20, half-off their regular collective price.

The bundle in question includes King of Fighters ’98 Ultimate Match Final Edition, King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match, and King of Fighters XIII, providing a nice cross-section of the extensive franchise for folks who either want to renew their love of SNK’s classics or jump into them for the first time.

Each game is also available at a discounted price alone if you happen to own one or two already.

EG|Justin Wong Discusses His Personal Challenges Facing Bonchan in Ultra Street Fighter IV

Rivalries are an important part of any type of competition, giving participants someone they need to struggle to keep up with. Alex Valle is famously quoted as saying that he would have retired from fighting games had he beat Daigo Umehara in their historic Street Fighter Alpha 3 exhibition back in 1998, as winning there would have made him arguably the strongest players in the world with no more obstacles to surpass.

Evil Geniuses’ Justin Wong has apparently found his own hurdle in Masato “Bonchan” Takahashi.

Though not technically a rivalry, Wong recently spoke to theScore eSports’ Rod “Slasher” Breslau about how he perceives the Japanese player after their meeting at NorCal Regionals 2015. “Bonchan currently owns my soul. He is the one player I believe that I have never beaten in a tournament set,” he explained. “My confidence against him is pretty much slim to none at the moment.”

That doesn’t mean he’s lost all hope, however. Wong describes feeling the exact same way about Keita “Fuudo” Ai of Razer before eventually besting his dominant Fei Long at Evo 2013. And with a renewed training regimen in place as he vies for a shot at Capcom Cup 2015’s $500,000 prize pool, this community mainstay is sure to push on until he once again finds himself on even footing with Takahashi.

“I believe I am in tip top shape in [Ultra Street Fighter IV], it is just that everyone is so good and everyone can beat each other which makes the game so much more fun to watch. I think I have proven myself as a player but as a competitor, I can never give up and I want to pursue becoming the best.”
