Soccer Crowd in Saudi Arabia Organizes Mortal Kombat-Inspired Choreography

During a recent Asian Champions League soccer match between Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal and Persepolis F.C. of Iran, fans collaborated on a pretty spectacular showing that combined support for their home team with a love of the iconic fighting game franchise Mortal Kombat.

This choreography, colloquially known as a tifo in the world of football, displayed a gigantic image of Sub-Zero before imploring the Saudi team to FINISH ‘EM.

Al Hilal would go on to defeat Persepolis and earn a spot in the next round of competition. Whether or not the crowd’s collage had anything to do with it is still up for debate, but this fighting game fan likes to imagine it gave the players that last push they needed to secure victory.

This is How Lab Zero Games’ Legacy Controller Driver is Supposed to Work on PlayStation 4

Both Mortal Kombat X and Ultra Street Fighter IV on PlayStation 4 support the use of PlayStation 3 controllers courtesy of a driver created by Skullgirls developers Lab Zero Games. However, both do so in a less than ideal manner, requiring players to sign into a profile with a PlayStation 4 controller first and keep them connected.

In response to this, community member Worldjem got together with Lab Zero’s Mike Zaimont at Combo Breaker to released a video showing how Skullgirls 2nd Encore will implement the driver.

As the video below demonstrates, as soon as Skullgirls has loaded, players can simply disconnect whatever native controller they used to start it up. After which, they can plug in any PlayStation 3 controller that works with the driver and the game will recognize it without needing the players to sign in to a profile.

Unlike the aforementioned major studio titles, this method makes it so that only one PlayStation 4 controller is needed for two players, freeing up time and making things much simpler both from casual and tournament-level perspectives.
