Footsies or Rushdown? Vega’s Priorities Change in Street Fighter V Depending on Stance
Capcom is currently showing off the latest build of Street Fighter V at Gamescom 2015. As you may already know, this new build features Vega, the game’s latest returning veteran, as well as newcomer Necalli.
During their time at the convention, IGN got a chance to talk to Capcom’s Matt Dahlgren about these two new additions.
Regarding Necalli, Dahlgren says that the team wanted a bestial-looking character when creating him. Additionally, he talks about his unique V-Trigger, which permanently alters his playing style, unlike the temporary states given to other characters.
As for Vega, he apparently plays very different depending on his stance. With his claw on, Dahlgren describes Vega as a very footsie oriented character. With the claw gone, however, he becomes more focused on rushdown techniques. This is a major departure from his appearances in other games, which saw the Spaniard retain many of the same moves without his trademark weapon.
Dahlgren also spends a short amount of time addressing the Street Fighter V beta, the first phase of which didn’t go as swimmingly as they’d hoped. Information on upcoming tests should be provided in the near future.
Of course, this is just a tiny part of what they discussed, so be sure to check out the full interview below.
