While visiting Japan for the upcoming Tokyo Game Show tournament, Saudi competitor Abdulatif “Latif” Alhmili stopped by YUBIKEN to get in some practice time. His stay was punctuated by a quick interview, conducted by Super Santarou Man with translations by KichijojiKEN, that touched on a few interesting topics.

Their conversation started out with a pretty surprising revelation. When asked about his character choice in Street Fighter IV, Latif mentioned that C. Viper’s stylish gameplay drew him to her immediately. “If Viper didn’t exist, I wouldn’t play Street Fighter IV,” the Evo 2011 runner-up divulged. Taking his past as a Guilty Gear player into account, Latif’s character choice makes sense, but it’s interesting that such a strong player wouldn’t be where he is today if it weren’t for one character’s inclusion.

Back in August, Sony held a very special event in Toshin-Gekitotsu. This competition saw two teams of players come together to compete in Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-. While things didn’t go so well for the Pro Gamer Alliance, led by legend Daigo Umehara of Mad Catz, they still provided quite a show against Ogawa’s squad of Guilty Gear Kings.
