Earn a Trip to Final Round 19 at the West Coast Paradise Qualifiers

Due to the sheer size of the United States, traveling from one coast to the other to visit out-of-state tournaments can be difficult for many players. While our community has grown to the point where you can find high-level competition around just about every corner, making appearances at every major is nearly impossible if you don’t have a sponsor.

Fortunately, the folks behind Final Round will be tossing out flights to their next tournament like Oprah at Paradise, a west coast qualifier set to be held in San Diego, California. Featuring competition in Ultra Street Fighter IV, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Tekken 7, and Dead or Alive 5 Last Round, winners of each game at this event will be provided with free entry and airfare to Final Round 19 in 2016.

And for those of you unable to be there in person, Team Spooky will be streaming the festivities all weekend long.

A new review aggregation site has launched today called OpenCritic. The stated goal of the team behind the site is that it seeks to "shake up game review aggregation" in a number of ways, most notably through transparency. Users can create a list of "trusted review" sites and receive personalized aggregate review scores based on those sites alone.

Scores Settled, Opinions Defended During Absolute Battle 6’s Ultra Fight Night Exhibitions

In addition to the main tournament, Absolute Battle 6 was also host to another installment of PandaxGaming’s Ultra Fight Night exhibition series, which has hosted showmatches at various tournaments in the region. This edition in particular featured some very special matches due to the stories leading up to them.

The first of these was the Ultra Street Fighter IV match between Tommy Gunz and Pandora House’s Crackfiend. Some months ago, Gunz called out Crackfiend, leading to a rather heated exchange in the weeks leading up to Absolute Battle. The result: Crackfiend flew from Northern California to Texas to settle the score.

Meanwhile, Hamad previously made statements regarding the Ryu vs. Dhalsim matchup in Ultra Street Fighter IV. According to him, the pairing is against Ryu’s favor, but strong players can make good things happen. To prove his point, he went up against Hypersurge’s Dhalsim.

And finally, Terry Bogard was supposed to go up against Panda Global’s Filipino Champ in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, but personal reservations kept the Marvel god from attending. As such, Bogard was forced to defend his crown as Texas’ best player against a mystery opponent, who turned out to be K-Brad of Evil Geniuses, in the main event of Ultra Fight Night.
