The Ultra Street Fighter IV grand finals match at Stunfest 2015 was arguably one of the best in recent memory. In it, none other than “the Beast” himself, Mad Catz’ Daigo Umehara, came out of losers to go up against reigning Capcom Cup champion Momochi of Evil Geniuses, eventually taking the whole thing with an impressive bracket reset.

But the results only tell part of the story. After breaking down the first two games in the set, Jay Rego has returned to shine a light on the third.

Here, Rego focuses on the fireball war, touching on how they both players challenge the other and anticipate attacks. He also looks at some interesting tech that Momochi brings out during the middle of the set.

The Daily Dot’s Best of 3 is back with another interview of a top American fighting game player. Last time, they talked to Team Liquid’s Du “NuckleDu” Dang, and now they’ve gotten in contact with former Evo championRyan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez of Panda Gaming.

In the interview, they go over a wide range of topics, such as Ramirez’s role as a “villain” in the community, his recent Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 performance in tournaments such as Evo 2015, and future plans.

When talking about Absolute Battle 6 coming up this weekend in particular, he mentions not being able to attend due to his associating the event with the loss of his grandmother, who passed away while he was visiting Texas for Absolute Battle 5 in 2014.

Moving on to games, they touch on Radiant Entertainment’s Rising Thunder, which is currently in open alpha testing. Ramirez recently won the game’s inaugural tournament, and believes that he’s probably the best Rising Thunder player at the moment. Apart from that, he says he likes how accessible the game is and its emphasis on good decision-making over pure execution.

But what would a Filipino Champ interview be without Marvel talk? The biggest question these days seems to be whether or not it’s still “America’s game”, considering how well foreign players have been doing, most notably Chilean Nicolas “Kane Blueriver” Gonzalez of The Black Eye, who was crowned champion at Evo 2015.

Ramirez says that Gonzalez deserves the win with how hard he has worked to get to that point, even if he missed out on playing Ramirez himself and fellow Marvel god Christopher “ChrisG” Gonzalez. That said, he still thinks Marvel belongs to the United States and that, overall, Americans are still more dominant.
