Yesterday, Nintendo announced that Cloud Strife, the divisive protagonist of Square-Enix’s equally polarizing Final Fantasy VII, will be joining the cast of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. It was like a dream–or perhaps a nightmare depending on how you feel about the character–one that still doesn’t feel real.

But, yes, Cloud will be in Super Smash Bros., alongside similarly iconic characters like Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, Mega Man, Ryu, and more. To further drive this point home, we’ve included a handful of beautiful new screenshots in the gallery below.

It’s yet to be revealed when Cloud will drop, but we should know more by the time Nintendo’s special Smash broadcast rolls around in December.

At a recent launch for their new EDGE line of PC controllers, HORI also took the time to show off their latest fighting game controllers.

The first of these is the Fighting Commander 4. The Pro version of this pad is already for sale in both Asia and North America, but this new version removes the adjustable directional pad and extended left hand grip. This, of course, lowers the price; it’s set to retail for ¥4,299 (~$35 USD) when it hits stores in the spring, about half the price of the Fighting Commander 4 Pro.

Arguably more exciting is the upcoming Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa. This new incarnation of the RAP.V series features HORI’s updated Hayabusa buttons.

While the Hayabusa name was previously reserved for HORI’s top of the line arcade lever, these buttons are designed to give quicker response thanks to a lower profile that gives shorter actuation distance than their previous Kuro buttons. The new Real Arcade Pro V Hayabusa will cost ¥15,984 (~$130 USD) when it launches this December.

Both of these controllers will feature support for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC. The article also mentions that a PS4 version of HORI’s high-end Fighting Edge arcade stick is also in development.
