MechWarrior Online: Piranha’s Russ Bullock on the Biggest Update Yet

But as someone who never really took the time to pay much attention to Mechwarrior Online and the much larger Battletech universe, the highlight of my evening was sitting down and talking with Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games. Guild Wars 2: Designing the Soundscape of Heart of Thorns

Now several months beyond the launch of Heart of Thorns, the Guild Wars 2 team is shining a light on one of the more underappreciated arts of game development – sound design. To that end, we caught up with Jerry Schroeder and Drew Cady (Sound Designers each) to talk about the behind the scenes work of bringing the Maguuma Jungle and its denizens to life.

Blow Up Safe Jump Counters with Whiffed Air Throws in Ultra Street Fighter IV

No matter how old a game is, there’s always more to learn. Seven years of gameplay have solidified absolutes in our mind about Street Fighter IV, but certain situationsĀ still have a bit of tweaking left even as the game enters its twilight.

In their latest video, Core-A Gaming teams up with Ryan “Laugh” Ahn to demonstrate a sneaky technique that allows characters with air throws to bait out an opponent’s anti-safe jump setup, such as an EX Tornado Throw from Abel, and punish accordingly. The solution? Simply whiff an air throw as close to the ground as possible.

By doing this, the character performing the air throw remains in the air slightly longer than usual due to the whiff animation, causing the above setup and any others that require a grounded opponent to become ineffective.

Be sure to check out the video below for Laugh’s full explanation.
