Runescape: Franchise Events Throughout 2016 Celebrate 15th Anniversary

Jagex has announced a slate of activities to take place during 2016 in celebration of the fifteenth anniversary of Runescape. Events will take place in Runescape, Old School Runescape and Chronicles: Runescape Legends. The game’s original founders, Andrew and Paul Gower, will be returning as guest designers on a Gower Quest in the original game that will bring events in play since 2013 to a close.

Sword Coast Legends: Try It for Free This Weekend on Steam

Fans of Wizards of the Coast and D&D who have yet to try out Sword Coast Legends can do so for free this weekend. SCL will be free to play beginning at 10:00 am Pacific / 1:00 pm Eastern on Thursday, December 17th and will run through December 22nd. During that same time frame, folks looking to purchase Sword Coast Legends can do so for $19.99.

Black Desert Online: First Closed Beta Event Goes Live

One of the games that EU/NA players are most looking forward to playing as 2016 looms on the horizon is Black Desert Online. Today is a big day for fans as it marks the commencement of the first round of closed beta testing. The Black Desert CBT is now live and lucky holders of keys can now log in and try it out for themselves.

Nintendo Reveals Final Round of Super Smash Bros. Mii Fighter Outfits

Now that we’ve all had a chance to calm down from Nintendo’s latest Super Smash Bros. character reveals, we can take some time to check out the rest of the content that they announced alongside the upcoming cast members.

It’s hard to contend with actual new characters, but some popular faces will be making their way into the game in the form of Mii Fighter outfits. This list includes Super Mario RPG’s Geno, Final Fantasy’s Chocobo, Nazo no Murasme-jō’s Takamaru, Wario Ware Inc.’s Ashley, Gil from The Tower of Druaga, and Tails and Knuckles of Sonic the Hedgehog fame. Mii Fighters will also be able to suit up with some sweet Bionic Armor. It’s not from anything in particular, but who can say no to bionic armor?

While the Geno and Chocobo outfits are now available for purchase, the rest will be available sometime in February, most likely with the next two characters.

In-game cosmetic options aside, Nintendo also confirmed the development of a handful of upcoming Amiibos including a recolor of R.O.B. and original pieces for Roy and Ryu, all of which are coming on March 18, with Amiibos for the game’s final three characters planned for sometime later on.
