Desk Explores Super Turbo’s Game Boy Advance Port in Latest Exhibition Video
Desk has returned with an interesting new combo video that focuses not on a console game, but one for handhelds, specifically the Gameboy Advance port of Super Street Fighter II Turbo.
Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival is an interesting case due to its control scheme. First, the four-button layout of the Game Boy Advance means that certain compromises had to be made to access all six normals. The game includes options for either having to press two buttons for medium strength normals or requiring a player to hold down weak attacks to get stronger ones. This makes performing certain combos challenging, especially where frame perfect timing is involved.
Perhaps even more fascinating, however, is that Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival is the only version of Street Fighter II with both super combos and the float glitch. The latter was present in earlier arcade versions of Street Fighter II with the exception of Super Turbo. Its appearance here makes for some crazy combos, as demonstrated below.
