For most of the series’ lifetime, Olympic Gaming has done a great job of highlighting new and upcoming players in the various versions of Street Fighter IV. These videos have helped bring focus to some players who most would have not have noticed otherwise.

That said, the era of Street Fighter IV has come to a close with the recent release of Street Fighter V, and Olympic Gaming is saying goodbye with one final batch of spotlights. These videos take a closer look at German player KingKong Cihan’s Gouken, Ohio native Gokumah’s Akuma, Southern California’s KRS Valiant and his Fei Long, and Boston player Burkish’s Yang.

Jay Rego has been bringing relevant fighting game content to both the newest players who need a place to get started, as well as those who’ve been around for a while and have a hankering for in-depth match analysis, for quite some time. His latest video returns to a topic he started discussing back in November: how to approach a match. This information, while directly related to Street Fighter V, easily translates to any other fighting game.

In the footage, Rego presents a handful of situations from a mock match to demonstrate the thoughts that should be going through a player’s head at any given moment, while also offering a look at which are worth acting upon. Newcomers should find this especially helpful, as getting used to the genre can be an overwhelming task, and having an idea of where to focus your attention is a great place to get started.
