Killer Instinct Season 3 Patch Addresses Kan-Ra and Glacius Glitches, More

The folks at Iron Galaxy Studios launched a small patch for Killer Instinct Season 3 just a couple of hours ago. Those looking for balance changes in this update will find nothing of the sort, as the patch works mostly to address bugs encountered by players since the launch of the third season.

The most notorious bug that the team squashed was tied to Kan-Ra’s Swarm. In the previous build, this projectile colliding with a projectile from the other player could result in some hilariously game-breaking situations. Additionally, the team fixed an issue tied to Glacius’ Shatter, and addressed some issues with the in-game shop.

The update brings slight changes to the way ranking points function, too, and you can find the information surrounding those changes here. You can find the full patch notes below.

Street Fighter V Glitch Lets Players Pick Previous Versions of Characters

Throughout its history, certain versions of Street Fighter have allowed players to select older versions of characters before stepping into a battle. Now, it seems that Street Fighter V has joined the likes of such past titles thanks to a glitch in the game’s character select screen.

The glitch in question concerns Alex. By having the cursor start on Alex–by setting him as a favorite character–players are then able to use the 1.01 versions of all the other characters.

On r/StreetFighter, dantarion notes that this is likely due to the fact that the game retains the files for both the 1.01 and 1.02 versions of the characters. The former are stored in a folder labeled 000, while the latter are in a new folder labeled 001. Being a new character, Alex only has a 000 folder. Since the glitch occurs when the character select cursor starts on Alex, it seems this somehow causes all the characters selected afterward to load files from the 000 folder as well.

Now, this shouldn’t be that big an issue in terms of balance, considering that the game hasn’t had any major balance changes aside from the removal of a few option selects, though small exceptions certainly exist.
